Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who handles the boat’s logistics?

A. Waterboards handles all areas of operation— including transportation,
maintenance and nautical navigation of the boat. Additionally, all taxes and fees associated with docking and port entry are also covered.

Q. Can a Waterboards boat be customized to match the look and feel of a brand or campaign?
A. Absolutely. A boat can be altered into virtually any dimension that your creative leads you. This includes painting the vessel to match your corporate identity. It can also be reconfigured to match your campaign’s specifications, which could include adding spectacular extensions off the billboard, replacing the space for a typical vinyl billboard with a Duratrans light box, tri-panel billboards or even a huge L.E.D. video board or tiled television monitors. (See examples of billboard extension concepts in the Photo Gallery)

Q. Can a boat be directed from shore to help leverage an ad’s exposure?
A. Yes. Waterboards has a location team on land with radio contact to the boat to ensure that the advertising is in the consumer’s constant view and in sync with any land-based promotions.

Q. Who is responsible for navigating the boat?

A. All Waterboards boats are navigated by licensed and insured U.S. Coast Guard certified captains. Additionally, captions are hired on a local basis to ensure their familiarity with a particular body of water in both daytime and nighttime situations.

Q. How can I learn more about the boat’s specs?
A. Click through the photos in the Gallery section until you reach the final image; there you’ll find the watercraft’s exact specifications and dimensions.

Q. What distinguishes Waterboards’ impact from other signage at events?
A. Unlike other advertising mediums, Waterboards is mobile, and therefore can be strategically positioned in camera angles for televised events and media photo opportunities. The average consumer is immune to ordinary banners and traditional billboard advertisements. Waterboards is both extraordinary and eye-catching.

Q. Can Waterboards be viewed at night?
A. Waterboards is equipped with 6 high-intensity Halogen lights for two-sided illumination. It can also be back lit for even more impact. It’s truly amazing how a Waterboards advertisement pops off the darkness of night. No one on the shore will miss it.

Q. How close can the boat get to the shoreline?

A. While the distance generally varies from one waterfront to the next—sometimes Waterboards can ride along the shore—it depends on whether or not there is a shore area specifically for swimmers. Either way, we absolutely guarantee you that your advertising will be seen and read by virtually every set of eyeballs on the shoreline. It’s that impressive.

Q. What if the water is choppy…will the bottom part of the billboard be lost in the waves?

A. Waterboards was engineered with Mother Nature’s potential for nastiness in mind by positioning the actual creative on the billboard several feet above the actual waterline. This design element also ensures that your advertising stays in the consumer’s constant view.
